Companies that have had to close down operations due to measures in the context of the coronavirus pandemic will be able to take advantage of the deferral of rent payments that was approved by the Czech government. The withdrawal period runs from March 12, when the state of emergency was declared and will last until 30 June 2020. The bill has been approved by the government and will now go to the Chamber of Deputies in a state of legislative emergency.
“The lessor will not be allowed to give notice to the entrepreneur if the inability to pay the rent is related to a pandemic,” says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček and adds: “They will have two years to repay the instalments, i.e. until 31 March 2022. If necessary, the deadlines will be extended for further three months.” The measure concerns business entities in general.
